I had several reasons for starting this blog. One was to have a place to share my heart as I write about things I’ve been learning as a newly married gal. Another was so that I would have an excuse to repurpose more furniture! I only have so much space in this house of mine, so I don’t get to do as many furniture projects as I would like.
We’ve decided to start a little side business of refinishing and repurposing furniture. I’m super excited about it! I get to transform these pieces, saving them from landfills, and brightening someone else’s home. And the best part of it is, each piece will help support a charity that is working to transform lives.
Every month or so, we will choose a different charity to donate 15% of each sale to. If you know of a charity you would like to nominate, let us know!
So let’s get this started!
I happen to know the woman who owned this one, so I found out a little bit of the history. In the 1960’s, her husband had an old car, I’m not sure what kind. He actually traded a friend his car for this stereo! It was a top of the line stereo at the time.
Fast forward several decades… it’s been in their garage, being used as a work bench. When we got it, there was actually a drill press bolted to it! We filled the holes, removed the turntable and insulation, then added some 1/4 in. plywood to make the side portions nice and clean.
Painted it with chalk paint, distressed it, waxed it and…. voila!
It would also work perfectly as a media console since the middle section has openings in the back.
